Travel medicine is a specialized field of medicine that focuses on the health and safety of travelers. It involves the assessment of the potential health risks associated with travel, such as exposure to infectious diseases, and the provision of preventative measures and treatments to minimize these risks. Travel medicine providers may offer a range of services, including pre-travel consultations, immunizations, prophylactic medications, and advice on safe food and water consumption. The goal of travel medicine is to help individuals stay healthy while traveling and to minimize the risk of illness or injury during their trip.

Our team of skilled healthcare experts is dedicated to offering our patients individualized treatment and unique travel health programs, including travel medicine specialists, nurses, and pharmacists. We provide a variety of services, such as pre-travel counseling, travel-related vaccinations, prescription drugs, and post-travel follow-up treatment.

At our clinic, we are aware that traveling might present health hazards, including exposure to infectious diseases, illnesses involving food and drink, and illnesses involving insects. Because of this, we provide individualized care and develop travel health plans for each patient based on their destination, activities, and medical background.

We are committed to remaining current on the most recent trends and advancements in travel health, and we only use the most recent information and recommendations from reliable sources like the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

We are dedicated to giving our patients a warm and enlightening environment where they may get the knowledge and assistance they require to remain healthy and safe when traveling overseas. Our staff is committed to responding to any inquiries from patients and offering the best possible treatment and support.

We generally advise booking your appointment with us once your tickets are booked.  Most immunizations require at least 2 weeks to produce an immune response and are effective. Some immunizations also require booster shots to maximize effectiveness. If you are traveling abroad for either work or leisure,  Fort York Clinic wants to help make sure you’re safe, especially during these challenging times.  Our doctors are well experienced in Travel Medicine and can help ensure your health is not compromised during your travel. Some countries have diseases that are not endemic to Canada such as cholera, hepatitis, Japanese encephalitis, malaria, typhoid, or yellow fever.  Our Travel Medicine Physicians can determine if immunizations or medications are needed and if they are safe for you to take.
